Zoe* is one of many women who saw their own people closing the door to them, simply because they choose to keep the baby…
Originally from Morocco, Zoe was in a relationship with a man from Syria. They lived in Athens and their relationship went smoothly until she became pregnant. She was very happy! Unfortunately, however, her excitement was cut short prematurely, when she announced the pregnancy to her partner, who became furious, asking her to have an abortion. “It put a lot of pressure on me and sometimes it crossed my mind to terminate the pregnancy, but deep down I knew from the first moment that I wanted to hold this baby in my arms one day,” says Zoe. When her partner could not convince her, then he chose to leave her…
Having been left without a partner, without a home and without money, Zoe found hope again in the ’embrace’ of the Hope Center. One of the Center’s staff has stood by her from that critical moment until today, accompanying her to doctors, hospitals and medical examinations, as well as moving. She helped her with the language, in overcoming some bureaucratic issues they encountered on their way, while the Hope Center undertook to cover some of the exams financially. The Center also offered her baby clothes and food bags.
Having entered her month, Zoe had to make one more decision: to choose a person who will be with her during the birth and to accompany her during the days she will stay in the maternity hospital. “I want you to be together in my birth!” she told the Hope Center girl, who was moved as her choice of Life confirmed the big role the Center’s support played in her ordeal.
A few months ago, Zoe * took her little son and they went abroad. It was a difficult decision she had to make after trying everything she could to find a job. After all, in Greece, there was no longer anything to hold her back. The father of her child was never seen again.
We said goodbye to them with tears in our eyes and the hope that things, from now on, will be more favorable for the two of them.
The Hope Center continues to offer help and hope to every woman who is facing an unexpected pregnancy, is considering an abortion, or has had one in the past.
